The teams at Compassion Fix and Discover Strength are grateful to be part of the Leawood Chamber of Commerce—and to experience firsthand the power of connection it creates.
Shortly after Compassion Fix joined the Chamber, the two organizations connected with a shared goal: finding thoughtful ways to better support the communities they serve. It quickly became clear there was a natural alignment between Compassion Fix’s work supporting individuals through life transitions and Discover Strength’s focus on evidence-based education around the holistic benefits of resistance exercise.
That connection has led to a meaningful collaboration for this month’s Compassion Fix Wonderful Widows Workshop—a supportive gathering for women navigating life after loss.
Led by Certified Grief Coach Jennifer Eckert, this group meets on the first Tuesday evening of each month and provides a welcoming space for connection, encouragement, and shared experience. Women of all ages and stages are invited to come as they are and find community alongside others on a similar journey.
At this month’s session on Tuesday, April 7, Discover Strength General Manager and Lead Exercise Physiologist Jacob Peabody will share a practical, research-informed perspective on how strength training can support both physical and emotional well-being during times of stress and transition. Topics will include:
- How movement can support mood, energy, and resilience
- The role of strength training in maintaining physical health and overall quality of life
- Simple, approachable ways to incorporate exercise during challenging seasons of life
