MENORAH MEDICAL CENTER NAMES RODNEY BUZZAS, MD, CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER
Experienced physician leader to advance clinical quality, patient safety and physician engagement.
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — (July 31, 2026) — Menorah Medical Center has named Rodney Buzzas, MD, chief medical officer. A board-certified general surgeon and experienced physician executive, Dr. Buzzas has spent his career championing physician engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based care to strengthen clinical quality, patient safety and patient outcomes. Menorah Medical Center is part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider.
Dr. Buzzas joins Menorah Medical Center from St. Rose Dominican Hospitals — Siena and Rose de Lima Campuses in Henderson, Nevada, where he served as chief medical officer and designated institutional official. At St. Rose, he strengthened physician alignment, fostered a high-reliability culture and led initiatives that improved quality, patient safety and clinical performance across the organization. He also helped achieve Level II designation for emergency and trauma services, established a neurosciences service line that achieved Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center status and supported graduate medical education programs.
He joins Menorah Medical Center as the hospital continues building on its longstanding commitment to clinical excellence and patient safety. Earlier this year, Menorah Medical Center was recognized among the nation’s top 5% of hospitals for patient safety by Healthgrades, reflecting its dedication to delivering safe, high-quality care. It is the ninth consecutive year the hospital has received the Patient Safety Excellence™ Award.

Before joining St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, Dr. Buzzas served as chief medical officer at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Previously, he held physician leadership positions with St. Charles Health System in Bend, Oregon, where he oversaw clinical quality, physician relations, medical staff operations, clinical documentation improvement and multispecialty physician group leadership.
Dr. Buzzas earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in molecular biology from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his medical degree from Creighton University School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. He also holds a master’s degree in healthcare quality and patient safety management from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
