_________________________________________

Healthcare Career and Hiring Fair provides scholars with onsite hiring opportunities and training for tomorrow’s healthcare workers today

to help combat the critical shortage.

OVERLAND PARK, KS. — (April 18, 2024) — Today, HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s largest healthcare provider, announced that HCA Healthcare Foundation awarded a $25,000 Cultivation Grant to Great Jobs KC during a Career and Job Hiring Fair on Wednesday. The check presentation occurred during a unique, specific healthcare career fair where attendees had the opportunity to leave the fair with the offer of a new career in the healthcare field. Menorah Medical Center Vice President of Human Resources Jay Blumhorst presented the check. Menorah Medical Center is part of HCA Midwest Health.

“This grant will support HCA Midwest Health’s commitment and efforts in providing tuition-free training for adults pursuing healthcare jobs,” said HCA Midwest Health President Keith Zimmerman. “Great Jobs KC shares our core values and cares deeply about providing access to tuition-free job training for low- to modest-income individuals in the Kansas City region. Our partnership with Great Jobs KC is intended to support community partners focused on developing certification programs for high-demand healthcare roles. And what better way to present a $25,000 check than to provide a first-hand opportunity for attendees to meet prospective employers and potentially leave the event with an offer of a rewarding and meaningful career job in the healthcare field.”

“It’s no secret that the healthcare industry is experiencing a critical shortage of healthcare workers,” Blumhorst said. “As the region’s largest healthcare organization, HCA Midwest Health is committed to doing our part to ensure we train, support, hire, and retain tomorrow’s compassionate healthcare workers and clinicians today.”

“At HCA Healthcare, we believe community partnerships are essential to advancing our mission to care for and improve human lives,” said HCA Healthcare Foundation President Joanne Pulles. “Partnering with organizations like Great Jobs KC allows us to do more for the communities we serve than we can do separately.”

Several healthcare organizations attended the career fair and hiring event, including Swope Health, Clay Platte Family Medicine, and Tutera Senior Living. The fair will allow attendees to connect with health systems and education institutions to close the skills gap. Additionally, attendees will learn how Great Jobs KC’s career training program helps aspiring professionals get the credentials they need to embark on a long-term, rewarding, high-paying healthcare career. Through investments and events like this, HCA Midwest Health is addressing critical shortages in healthcare and building a more robust workforce – while training tomorrow’s healthcare workers today.
