United Way of Greater Kansas City (UWGKC) is a nonprofit funded entirely by the generosity of its donors.

UWGKC has been the Kansas City area’s leading charity for 100 years, raising over $1 billion and impacting the lives of 1 million residents. Every dollar raised in Kansas City stays in Kansas City.

UWGKC fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in the community. Recipients range from early childhood education, school-age children and teens ready for careers, to adults and families who are financially secure and independent. UWGKC unites donors, volunteers, businesses, nonprofits and community leaders to help change the lives of those in need. With the help of the continued support of partner companies, individuals and agencies, UWGKC funds nearly 200 programs at 140 agencies in this community such as Quality Matters (an after school structured activity program), Promise 1000 (a home visiting service for at-risk children under the age of 3 focused on maternal and newborn health) and the Loads of Love initiative (providing washing machines in schools to provide students with clean clothes because dirty clothes and the cost of laundry can have a negative impact on attendance.).

UWGKC cannot help others without the support of the community, including Chamber members. UWGKC is growing their networking and volunteer portfolios so individuals, teams and companies have more ways to get involved in Kansas City, be it through an employee campaign or corporate donations, or through volunteer events.
