Shannon Riordan, Owner of Spirit of Adventure Travel, started her company in 2017 “out of pure Disney® passion and expertise”.

From a very young age, I have had an affinity for all things Disney. My response to the kindergarten project, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” was Minnie Mouse. I think I’ve come pretty close to fulfilling my childhood dreams. I completed my college internship at Walt Disney World for a semester in 2007 and went on my own Disney vacation at least once a year after that. People always sought me out for advice on planning their own trips, and I thought – why not do this for real? It hasn’t always been easy (thanks to the recent pandemic, especially) but my love for Disney and helping my clients allowed me to not only survive these unprecedented times but thrive. Through repeat clients and my desire to learn, I’ve grown to now include other destinations to continue serving my clients.

I like to think of myself as your “travel fiduciary” — building the best vacation package for you. I provide recommendations on where to stay, room types, staterooms, itineraries, and more. I assist clients with the logistics of transfers, strollers, or any other special needs. I make any reservations or book additional plans and tours. I stay current on Disney news and have years of personal travel experience to provide recommendations. This allows me to provide a customized itinerary for each client with suggestions, hidden secrets, and helpful tricks to maximize your vacation time.

I have always been a person who enjoys referring business to others. I was involved with the Leawood Chamber years ago as an Ambassador and on the Young Professionals committee, so I am excited to get back into the Leawood Chamber network. I enjoy learning about other businesses and how we can help each other grow. Rising tides lift all boats.

Not only have I been nominated two years in a row for KC Magazine’s “Best of KC” businesses, but I also have clients all across the US (28 different states served so far!) and Canada. Additionally, I’ve visited Walt Disney World® Resort over 34 times (not counting weekly visits while employed as a Walt Disney World® Cast Member during my college internship), Disneyland® Resort 5 times, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai’i, voyaged 5 times on the Disney Cruise Line, and I have even been to Hong Kong Disneyland.
