Where there’s a will to learn in Leawood, there’s a way! People in this city take pride in their education. It’s important to them and it’s definitely a priority when it comes to children. This might explain why the area has one of the strongest education bases in the nation. Leawood residents are highly educated: 98.9 percent of the population (age 25 and older) have a high school degree or higher; 74.3 percent a bachelor’s degree or higher; and 31.1 percent have a graduate or professional degree.1

The city conveniently falls between two school districts – Blue Valley School District and Shawnee Mission School District. Both districts regularly receive state and national accolades. That’s why it’s no surprise that the majority of Leawood’s high school graduates pursues higher education and has access to many highly rated, local universities and community colleges.

• In 2013, the district posted the highest ACT score of 25 of all schools in the Kansas City metropolitan area and tying the highest ACT composite score in district history.
• BVSD ranks in the top 10 among large districts in the Digital School Districts national survey.
• All five Blue Valley high schools made the Washington Post’s most challenging high schools list.
• 98 percent of BV patrons surveyed said they would give the district as a whole a grade of “A” or “B”.
