Privacy Policy

The privacy of our members and visitors to our web site is something that we hold in high respect. Subject to applicable laws, information you submit to this web site will be used as described in this policy. We do not retain information on our site that attempts to link personally identifiable information of individual visitors to their usage of this site. We do collect data that allows us to monitor activity on our site from your IP address to diagnose problems and monitor usage and activity on this site.

We do gather detailed information from our site visitors as noted below:

  • Voluntary event registrations request contact information from registrants such as name, member ID, phone and email address that is used to facilitate event registrations and database updates.
  • Some portions of our site requests information from visitors who are submitting community events and news items for display on our web site. This information is used by the Chamber in the event we need to contact the submitter for more detailed information and to establish a chain of accountability for the information presentenced on the site.
  • Our member surveys request, but do not require, that the participant enter contact information in the event they would like us to contact them for follow up
  • Credit card information is not collected by us, but by our 3rd party partner, Authorize.NET. Credit card transactions are subject to the Authorize.NET Privacy policies.
  • We do not share information gathered on this site with any organizations outside of the Leawood Chamber except as required by law. As noted in the Membership Application, member organizations agree that the Leawood Chamber may communicate with your organization about Chamber and Chamber member products, programs, discounts, sponsorships, registration deadlines, and services. Since one of the primary goals of Chamber membership is to provide networking opportunities for our members, members further acknowledge on the Membership Application that the Leawood Chamber may share their contact information, including fax &/or email addresses, with other member organizations.

If members do not want any or all of this contact information shared with other member organizations, they must notify the Leawood Chamber via email or fax at chamber@leawoodchamber.org or 913-491-0134 (fax) indicating that they do not want specific contact information shared with other member organizations. Once notification is received, we will cease sharing that specified information with other member organizations.

To the extent that visitors may participate in items on our web site such as blogs, forums, chat rooms and news groups, visitors must remember that information disclosed in these becomes public information and caution should be used in deciding personal information that is disclosed.

For purposes of assisting our members in connecting with each other and others in the community that might have interest in using their services, the Leawood Chamber does make available contact information on our site for each of our member businesses. Persons other than Chamber members will have access to this information and could send you unsolicited emails, faxes or regular mail.

Certain forms on our website may use cookies. Cookies are small files of data that reside on your computer and allow the Leawood Chamber to recognize you as a previous visitor to our website. The Leawood Chamber may use cookies to populate frequently used forms or to provide you with other customized viewing options for your convenience. The Leawood Chamber uses cookies solely to maintain personalized services throughout the website.

Personally Identifiable Information

The Leawood Chamber will only collect personally identifiable information about you on our web site based on your actions taken by you and with your knowledge through voluntary registration forms. Information included in these forms may include, and is not limited to name, company name, address, phone number, fax, email and web site. By providing this information, you are giving us your consent to use this information in accordance with the terms and provisions of this policy. Please be aware information disclosed on any open forum hosted by the Leawood Chamber may allow others to collect this information and send you unsolicited items.

If the user does not wish to share their personal information over the Internet, most transactions can be performed by phone as a way of not providing personal information electronically over the Internet.

Non-personally Identifiable Information

There is certain non-personally identifiable information we may collect that includes, among other things, information we automatically collect regarding your use and/or actions on our Web site. This type of information includes items such as, user traffic patterns, page views on the Web site, click-through rates, & search terms that users enter into our search utility. When visitors come to our site, we collect the IP address, their operating system and web browser software used. Using an IP address, which is not the same as an e-mail address, we can identify the user’s Internet service provider, and based on that identification, the Chamber can approximate the geographic location of the connection.

Non-Personally Identifiable Information allows the Chamber to determine how our web site is being used to identify popular areas of the site and assess the effectiveness of certain portions of our site.

Credit Card Information Security

The Leawood Chamber contracts with Authorize.NET, aka CyberSource, to process credit card transactions. CyberSource is committed to privacy and security. CyberSource is compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (“PCI DSS”) as a Level 1 service provider. CyberSource has been compliant with PCI DSS since its inception in 2002. PCI DSS is the bankcard industry’s most stringent security standard. Examples of CyberSource’s security measures include: physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards; sophisticated security monitoring tools; documented security policies; use of strong encryption for transmissions of Order Information to and from CyberSource Customers; restricted access of personally identifiable information; and, periodic security audits by third party security experts.
