Mr. Kotkin writes the weekly "New Geographer" column for Forbes.com and his work appears in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The American, and on Politico.com. He also previously wrote the monthly "Grass Roots Business" column in the New York Times' Sunday Business section and served as West Coast Editor for Inc. Magazine. His current project is a book looking at how the nation will evolve in the next forty years.

Midwest Cancer Care at Menorah Medical Center and Tallgrass Creek are pleased to partner to offer a community education presentation on cancer prevention on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. at Tallgrass Creek,13800 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas.

Dr. David Bouda, FACP is a cancer visionary and head of the innovative Midwest Cancer Care at Menorah and will discuss how to boost the immune system to fight cancer, tips for a cancer-fighting diet, ways to increase health through happiness and other ideas to improve overall health. His out-of-the-box approach to treating and supporting cancer patients is garnering acclaim within the medical community and with those fighting the disease on the front lines—the individuals diagnosed with varying stages of cancers from breast to colorectal to leukemia to lung.

Part of Dr. Bouda’s initiative is to get in the trenches and educate the community on patient-centered cancer care that strikes a balance with traditional evidenced-based care. 9th Annual Freaky Fall Fest

The City of Leawood Parks and Recreation Department will present the 9th Annual “Freaky Fall Fest”, to be held at Leawood City Park (10601 Lee Blvd.) on Friday, October 23 from 5:00-9:00 p.m.

Activities will include inflatables and rides, pumpkin painting, a creepy cake walk, the great pumpkin hunt, face painters, clown/balloon artists and more.

There will also be dancing and costume contests (children 10 and under), Haunted Hayrides (nominal charge per ride, come early to get your ticket) and the 6th Annual “Trunk-or-Treat”.

Participants can enjoy food, music and more at this “spooktacular” event! General admission is free and activity wristbands can be purchased for children 14 years and under that will allow unlimited access to all activities (except hayrides).

Two new tenants have recently signed leases at One Nineteen, an outdoor lifestyle center located at 119th Street and Roe Avenue in Leawood. This will be the first Kansas location for both Destination Maternity® and Republic of Couture.
