This upbeat holiday concert is sure to thrill listeners with sounds that take them back to the roots of Kansas City Jazz. Whether you are a seasoned jazz fan or a first-timer, the Wild Women of Kansas City’s performance will put you in the holiday spirit.
Myra Taylor is the featured singer of the group. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday but still sings and jokes like a girl in her 20s. She got her start in the 18th & Vine district of Kansas City as a dancer and then as the featured vocalist with Harlan Leonard and the Rockets, one of the seminal music acts of the time. She has been performing since the late 1930s and has several national hits to her credit. A few years ago she returned to KC from LA to be closer to her family.
The Wild Women of Kansas City are now the area’s premiere jazz vocal group. Millie Edwards, Geneva Price, and Lori Tucker each have a 20 year performance history. This fun and sassy group harmonizes classic jazz, blues and original number. These “wild women” started performing together about 6 years ago as a way to get Myra out of the house; little did they know that it would lead them on this fantastic jour ...
