Who would have guessed that one man’s passion for coffee would lead to one of the most renowned specialty coffee roasters in the nation, located right here in the Kansas City Metro area? Danny O’Neill, a.k.a. the Bean Baron, fell in love with coffee during his senior year of high school when he spent a year in Costa Rica as an exchange student. On November 22, 1978, Danny picked his first batch of coffee beans and 15 years later he founded The Roasterie in the basement of his Brookside home. Today, The Roasterie’s blends can be found in espresso bars, coffeehouses, fine restaurants, high-end grocers, offices, etc. Attend this month’s membership luncheon to learn more about Danny’s entrepreneurial experience! In addition to an insightful program, our newest Chamber members will be presented in our quarterly "Chamber Debut". Each attendee will receive a description from each business that has joined the Leawood Chamber in the past 90 days. The reservation deadline for this event is Thursday, November 5th by 5:00 pm. The amazing story that shows how far the district has come over the past 10 years is ready for everyone to see. New on the district’s Web site is a video that will make those who see it proud to be a part of Blue Valley Schools.
In the four minute video, Superintendent Tom Trigg talks about the district’s success and then demonstrates the tremendous progress over the past 10 years.
“I am actually able to show our community the academic growth of our students year-by-year since 2000,” said Tom Trigg, superintendent. “My very favorite part of the story is how we can see the growth accelerate after the implementation of the strategic plan. It’s just amazing.”
The video was created because the district is incredibly proud of its students and staff and wants others to see the achievement over the past 10 years, Trigg said.
“Our commitment to unparalleled personal growth and unprecedented academic success is one we take seriously,” he said.
